Passing it On...
Quilting has always been passed from generation to generation, mother to daughter, friend to friend. As each new set of hands takes hold of the art form, it has changed and grown from a necessity of warmth into a true art gracing even the most elegant of households. Through the years it has swelled and waned in popularity, but it continues to endure due to the tradition of Passing It On.
While there are more quilters in America than ever, there continue to be few young people who take up quilting as more than a passing interest. We are very concerned about this trend and have been searching for a way to encourage young people to begin quilting. We now invite you to join us in this project. It's very simple: teach someone around you to quilt!
Teach a child - teach a friend! You have unique skills and gifts that only you can share with others. Of course you can teach someone! Start simple, with a Nine-Patch, or an easy appliqué. Let someone around you share your passion and knowledge, your enjoyment of quilting.
Please share one of these tags with the person you are Passing It On to, and keep one for yourself. Invite them to pass it on as well.
As part of our program to pass on a love of quilting and quilts to children, 50¢ (25¢ for singles) of each sale goes to our local chapter of Project Linus for the creation of blankets and quilts that are given to children in traumatic situations.
Tags come with 24" chain, keyring, and are attached to a display card that explains the program. Each set costs $5.
